Trying to delete customers who have unsubscribed but if they have placed a previous order it won't let me.
Surely this is against data protection and it's no use to either of us to keep them on there ?
I got a warning on last email about the amount of bounced mail which is i imagine some of these customers but how can i get rid if shopify won't let me?
@savageoi Shopify does not allow deleting customers’ previous orders because order history is tied to customers for record keeping and data integrity. While this is in line with Shopify’s policy, it seems counterintuitive for managing high volumes of emails or GDPR concerns.
To solve this:
Customer Aggregation: Tag or aggregate unregistered customers for filtering.
Third-party apps: Use apps like Customer Fields to manage and edit customer data.
See Shopify Support: Consult specific guidelines on data processing and ensure GDPR compliance.
Hey @savageoi!
You are correct that Shopify does not allow deleting accounts that have previously placed an order. However, if you are worried about this for privacy or legal reasons, know that you can still go into the customer account in the Shopify admin and use the "Erase personal data" option in the 'More actions' menu
thanks for that , so if i did this would the customer disappear from customer list? Also is there any way to block certain buyers as i have 2 rivals i have found on there notorious for stealing designs and one scammer and several bots who i never want to be on there. I also no longer sell abroad yet i still have aq lot of people from abroad on there
Hi there @savageoi Like the others have said, I will confirm that the previous orders history cannot be deleted but as @Brett_Helium mentioned, there is an option to erase the personal data.
