Hey everyone,

My plan: I am a used clothing reseller and I am trying to do a few things. I want to sell my items on my shopify site along with Facebook shops and google merchant. I built out my shop and started importing all my items from Vendoo ( a multi listing app) that I use for listing on ebay, posh, etc.  The app imports all data except varient data because they wont map it or give you a way to map it.

My current set up: I connected the facebook shop and got my merchant account going for google, only to learn about metafields. When I began importing products, I didnt add any varients initially but learned that Facebook shops must have actual varients to import in. Then I confirmed that these varients were mapped to their metaobjects and that they were actually importing. YES!

What I didnt understand at this point is why Googles metafeilds were under Varient metafields and not product or category. I know now that google is set up to get product metafields but man the plug ins are so misleading of where to go for what info! So I stuck with it and figured out how to get the right metafields needed.

Facebook:  metaobject/category metafields from google along with data from Actual varients.
Google: Above PLUS 3 metafields that it was missing. Age, gender, and condition which it pulls from varient metafields.

HOW DO I FIX THIS: Each item I have to open up the product page, edit the vareints, then open up inventory to edit the varient metafields in bulk for google, then go pack and publish it on the sales channels. IO hav

1. Is there anyway to set this up to do it all in one bulk stage?

2. Do I actually need to add ALT text to every image even though they are one and done sales?
3. Does this all make sense?

This is an accepted solution.

Not really sure how to answer this. I only specialize in google shopping.

But the Google and youtube app is free, so yes, expect limitations on setting things up.

There are multiple way s you can add variant details.

1) in the app when you manually edit

2) in google merchant center manual editor

3) using feed rules in google merchant center

4) using a spreadsheet

Here is a nice video explaining all the different ways you can edit in Google merchant center:

You should be able to bulk edit using: https://apps.shopify.com/bulk-product-editor

Yes and no, I have not found an easy bulk product editor... like espresso which is so easy to use but doesnt do actual Varients yet. I chatted with the dev. My question is if I set it up correctly to begin with by having Actual Varients for Facebook, category metaobjects behind the scenese for both google merchant and facebook, and then product varients metafields for google becuase thats how it was set up with the google integration.... just seems weird.

Hey I appreciate it. I didnt really want to break out my own feeds and just rely on shopify API feed which you cant edit according to what I found. Its sorta working now so we will see if my set up ends up being ok.

Thanks,
