Digital Download Specific to Orders Received

Hi! I create custom portraits for people based on the photo they provide. How would I be able to upload my file for them to be able to download it after I complete it? 

My product won't be ready immediately after purchase as I would have to produce the drawing after receiving the order. 

How do I make my uploads order specific and not product specific? What apps can help me with this?

Hi @cosmoandcompany 

You can add a metafield to orders by navigating to Admin Settings > Custom data. This feature supports various options, including adding links or uploading files.

Once you’ve added the metafield, you should be able to click into an order to upload or add a link.

Then you need to add some code in liquid to show it at the frontend.

Hi thank you so much for your help! 

I was able to go through and add the metafield like you showed and go into a specific order to add the photo. How could I make it so when the order is "fulfilled". The customer gets an email notification to download the attachment? Either a "button" to click as a hyperlink or something that will allow them to download it.

I am not sure what you mean by adding code in liquid, would you be able to elaborate on that?

Sorry I should add that not all my products are digital. So I wouldn't need this for all orders. Just specific products. How would I create a email notification template to only send this out to certain products/orders? 

I found where I could code the email notifications but is there a simpler way to do that for people who aren't coders?

But the automatically sent notifications require a pre-set product, which means that the links will be the same for each product. I've tried some apps from the store and they all works the same way.

If you want to customize the emails for the same product but different orders, manually sending them might be a more straightforward approach. This way, each email can have a unique link tailored to the specific product.

If you're using metafields approach, after the code change, it should look like this. When there's no file uploaded for an order then this link will not show. 

I’ll need to know your theme to provide the correct code. Alternatively, I can assist you in adding the code if you share access to your theme with me. Just keep in mind that this will only work if you're using the classic customer account, as new accounts don’t allow any changes.
