Disable Double Opt in for shopify newsletters?

I moved away from Mailchimp to Shopify's newsletter signup/pop up a few months ago and didn't realise no one had confirmed their subscription through shopify's double opt in, there were 40 signed up but down as "pending" in my newsletter subscription list. I believe this is because of the double opt in, can i disable this for shopify emails or should I go back to Mailchimp? My subscribers just don't double opt in! thanks

I've found a solution for mine! Such a silly bug. If you have Klayvio or another email app, navigate to the opt in settings - For Klayvio - lists and segments - newsletter - settings - consent. Have both Shopify AND this page open and select single opt in on both pages. Worked for me. Hope this helps..
