Discount Codes in customers shopping carts won't delete - Shopify Community

The discount codes that customers have previously used are not able to be deleted in their checkouts to apply new code. They are in red and there is no way to delete to apply new code? I do not see that anyone else on this board has had this issue. Any ideas? Thank you.
