Discount created - not working

Good day, 

A discount was created for online purchases and the correct settings were created, a discount code was provided and after it went live this morning, the discount is not working. 

The discount works on all our products available in the store (that is under one collection), but once the discount code (that was auto-generated) is entered, a notification says that it's not valid for the items in the cart...but it should be! The settings have been checked and all seems to be in order.
