That's a great question!

 

The need for barcodes will significantly depend on your business model. For example, do you have a retail store or just an online shop? Do you resell your products in bulk to different distributors? 

 

Barcodes are applied to products as a means of quick identification. They are used in retail stores as part of the purchase process, in warehouses to track inventory, and on invoices to assist in accounting. So technically, there is no requirement that products must have barcodes unless you have a retail store or are selling at the wholesale level.
