I might start shopify collabs for brands, so do we always have to send a product or can we just create our own product images to use?
thanks
Hi there!
Ian here From Fast Bundle. Hope you're well.
When doing Shopify Collabs for brands, it depends on the type of collaboration:
Gifting Campaigns or Paid Collaborations
Usually, the brand will send you the product.
You're expected to try it and create authentic content.
Making your own product images without receiving or using the product is generally not allowed unless the brand agrees to it.
Affiliate-Only Collaborations
Some campaigns just give you an affiliate link or discount code.
In these cases, you don’t always need the product.
You can create your own images or use the brand’s assets, but you should be transparent that you haven’t personally used the product (unless you have).
General Content (Not Sponsored)
If you’re promoting a product on your own, you can use mockups or your own visuals.
Just make sure you're honest and not misleading your audience.
If you’re ever unsure, ask the brand if they require first-hand content or if mockups are acceptable. Transparency is key for trust and legal compliance.
that makes sense, so brands can do affiliate only collabs? does that mean the creator is only paid when they make a sale?
