All things Shopify and commerce
Ever since they added the ability for customers to select their local currency, the system has been showing me orders in my customer's local currency instead of my own. I hate this because I do bookkeeping using the order details. To be clear, I love that my customers can shop and check out using their local currency! It makes things easy for them. But there's really no need to show me the order details in my admin screen in THEIR currency. Show it to me in MINE!
I complained to customer service who pointed me to the "audit trail" below the order details.... and yes, there it shows the subtotal and total in my currency, along with the exchange rate. However, it doesn't help me because in Quickbooks, I record the subtotal, shipping, discount, and transaction fees. I ended up making a silly little Excel file that converts all of the order components back to USD for me. It works but it really slows me down a ton when I'm doing bookkeeping.
Did they ever come up with a solution for this?
No, they haven't. I don't think they care. Since making this complaint, I've also noticed that anywhere I see my customers orders, like the order notifications and even the info sent to Paypal if they check out using Paypal are only shown in their local currency. This is so utterly brain-dead stupid. Why the hell do I want to see my shop data in a foreign currency?
