All things Shopify and commerce
I have been looking for answers for weeks now. Need to know that does the Third-party transaction fees depends on the location? Because when I open Canada Shopify I see these fees in the pricing plan, but nothing in US Shopify. I'm from Bahrain (not eligible for Shopify Payments) and need to make sure that there are no Third-party transaction fees before I start with Shopify, even Shopify supports (online chat) they don't have details!!!
And what are the other alternatives of Shopify to go to? Will never think about opening my store here if we have to pay these extra fees!!
The presence of third-party transaction fees can vary depending on the location and the specific payment gateway options available in that region. It seems that you have noticed these fees mentioned in the pricing plans for Canada Shopify but not in US Shopify. To get accurate information about the fees applicable to your location (Bahrain), it is advisable to directly contact Shopify's customer support or review their documentation specific to your region. They will be able to provide you with the most up-to-date and accurate details regarding any potential third-party transaction fees that may apply to your Shopify account in Bahrain, especially since you are not eligible for Shopify Payments. Clarifying this information beforehand can help you make an informed decision before starting with Shopify.
Thank you for your reply!
unfortunately I contacted Shopify support and they didn't help!
Hi, @hs7
This is a great question. Thanks for posting!
As you are located in a region that is not supported by Shopify Payments, you will be subject to transaction fees. The rate in which you will be charged will depend on your chosen plan. For example Shopify Basic you will pay 2%, Shopify Professional 1% and Shopify Advanced 0.5%. For a list of available payment gateways for merchants in Bahrain, refer to this guide.
In the meantime, if you decide to start an account, I recommend using our launch checklist to help you along the way. This will ensure you don't miss a step!
Hi Hs7,
I am from Amman, Jordan and completely running on Shopify. I have read the previous answers and they are correct.
If you are using Shopify basic you will be charged a 2% fees (aside from the fees the payment provider will be charging you). If you are using Shopify professional you will be charged a 1% fee.
From my experience I would start with the basic and start upgrading once I see its neccessary. I eventually did upgrade because I needed to add more staff accounts to my shopify store.
