My store has been SSL pending for 3 days now.  I am not sure how to complete the domain setup process at this point.  I have the following on whois.  It is showing multiple A records, however I only have one specified in my registrars domains settings.  An AAAA record also shows up however, I do not have one specified in my domain settings.  Any help here to get my store setup completed would be appreciated.

Hi,

This is Richard at PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.

You're right to be concerned about the SSL pending status and the discrepancies in your DNS records. Let's break down the likely causes and how to fix them.

Understanding the Problem:

  • SSL Pending:
    • Shopify needs to verify your domain and issue an SSL certificate to secure your website.
    • This process relies on accurate DNS records.
    • If your DNS records are incorrect or inconsistent, Shopify cannot verify your domain, and the SSL status remains pending.
  • Multiple A Records:
    • Having multiple A records can sometimes cause conflicts.
    • Shopify typically requires a single A record pointing to its IP address.
  • AAAA Record:
    • An AAAA record is for IPv6 addresses. If you haven't configured it, it might be a remnant from a previous setup or a default setting from your registrar.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Verify Shopify's DNS Requirements:

    • Ensure you are using the correct Shopify A record.
    • The A record should point to Shopify's IP address: 23.227.38.65
    • Shopify does not require an AAAA record.
  2. Review Your Registrar's DNS Settings:

    • Log in to your domain registrar's control panel.
    • Carefully review your DNS settings.
    • Delete all existing A records except for the one pointing to 23.227.38.65.
    • Delete the AAAA record.
    • If you have a CNAME record for www, make sure that it points to shops.myshopify.com.
    • Save your changes.
  3. DNS Propagation:

    • DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate globally, although it's usually much faster.
    • Use online DNS lookup tools (like DNS Checker or What's My DNS) to check your DNS records from different locations.
    • This will allow you to see when the changes have propagated.

Hoping my solution helps you solve your problem.
