Drop in Sessions & CR%?

Has anyone else seen a huge drop in sessions and CR% in their Shopify store analytics? I know we are getting the same amount of sessions and conversions that we were before. Orders and revenue have actually gone up. It is weird.

We set up the consent gate a couple of weeks ago but I didn't think that would affect raw session and CR% data since those are triggered at the site and then with the order. (We have turned it back off.) I am at a loss. I have talked to several Shopify techs and the only thing they have said is that everything looks right with our site and then yesterday one told me that there was a data issue in the Eastern US with Shopify but this has been going on for 2 weeks now. Google WMT and Google Merchant Center are actually showing an increase in clicks to the site but the data in Shopify does not reflect that.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?

While consent gates are crucial for compliance, they might affect how data is tracked, particularly if cookies are impacted. However, if you’ve turned it off and the issue persists, the consent gate itself might not be the root cause, though it’s worth ensuring that the tracking script is fully functional post-reset

Sometimes, Shopify’s analytics dashboard can have delays or glitches. Verify that there are no ongoing issues reported by Shopify.

what about Google Analytics 4? are you getting the expected data?

GA4 analytics is showing a drop as well. We are using the Google & Youtube App for the connection of tags.

everything looks perfect. GA4 receiving data smoothly.

Sometimes Google Native app stops working because of a technical error/bug. 

In that case, you consider to set up manual tracking for purchases through Google Tag Manager.
