Edit Checkout to Ask More Questions

since Shopify fixed the security issues in checkout.liquid why can't non Plus users edit checkout?  we had this capability years ago.  

if I need to ask more questions in Checkout order to fulfill orders do I have to leave Shopify?

As far as we know, editing the checkout.liquid file is a capability exclusive to Shopify Plus merchants. For non-Plus stores, Shopify does not allow access to this file or deep customization of the core checkout flow.

While you can explore third-party apps for certain checkout-related enhancements, they are limited in scope and cannot add custom fields or additional questions directly into the checkout steps (Information, Shipping, or Payment). That level of customization is restricted to Shopify Plus.

the question is why they didn't allow it for non Plus customers.   it is a real downgrade from Shopify of years ago.  they could allow it but chose not to.  shows they have little care for non Plus customers
