email and phone number required for store pick ups

Looking for how to make phone and email a pre-req for store pick-up's? Works fine via checkout rules for home deliveries but not for in store pick ups?

If you'll want to give the option to either ship OR pickup, you may want to consider making accounts required. That should force them to include, at the very least, their email.

thanks for the reply, I am always reluctant to introduce potential barriers to purchase... I feel the requirement to create an account could be construed as a nuisance by customers...

Yes, you're absolutely right in this thinking. There may be apps that help with this, but you could also complete this with a bit of custom coding.

 

You could include a checkbox on the product page or cart that asks "Is this for pick-up"? Upon checking yes, the user can be prompted to enter their phone # and email, noting that it is required for identification for pickup orders. This info can be passed through the cart to the confirmation email you receive.

 

Example: https://www.thescarfstudio.com/products/socks Scroll down on the right hand side and check off "is this a gift" and add to cart. You'll see it will be added to the cart and (upon placing an order) that info will pass through to your order email notification.

Unfortunately, there is no good solution. but, a workaround that we've implemented is changing the label from "email or phone number" to just "primary phone number" under theme settings

This takes away the suggestion to enter an email address. But, a phone number is more important to us for pickups.
