Hi Everyone,

I have a dilemma with my Email forwarding ..Cant seem to get the dropdown screen to set the forwarding addresses .

Im pretty sure I screwed up when transferring my domain name over from Namecheap but seems to be pointing in the right direction but doesn't seem to look right in Settings/Domains and was hoping that someone could take a look please. Below is a couple of screenshots that may shed some light.

Hi Keith,

It sounds like the email forwarding settings might be affected by the domain transfer, which can sometimes cause issues with DNS and forwarding configurations. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Solution

  1. Check DNS Records for Email Forwarding:

    • Log in to your Shopify Admin and go to Settings > Domains.
    • Click on your domain to view the DNS settings and ensure that the correct MX (Mail Exchange) and forwarding-related records are in place. For example, if you’re using Shopify’s email forwarding, you’ll typically need specific MX records provided by Shopify or your email provider.
  2. Review and Edit MX Records:

    • If the MX records were not transferred correctly, you might need to edit them. Go to Settings > Domains and look for any “Edit DNS” or similar option.
    • Confirm that the MX records match those required by your email service provider (e.g., Google Workspace, Namecheap Email Forwarding, or another service).
    • Save changes and allow some time for DNS updates to propagate, which can take up to 24-48 hours.
  3. Verify Domain Connection:

    • Make sure your domain is fully connected to Shopify. In Settings > Domains, confirm there’s no indication of pending verification or error messages. If there is, try re-verifying the domain connection.
  4. Contact Shopify or Email Provider Support:

    • If the drop-down to set forwarding addresses still isn’t visible after checking DNS and MX settings, Shopify or your email provider’s support can help pinpoint any setup issues.
    • They can check if the domain transfer from Namecheap affected your forwarding settings or if additional setup is required on Shopify’s end.
