All things Shopify and commerce
I received an email from
shopifymerchantstrustteam@gmail.com stating that my account connectivity is very poor and that I need to use a link they provided to download Telegram in order to communicate with them further about it. How do I know that I can trust this?

Thanks @marlene495hadle ! I've marked your reply as the solution
@KadiannB , Shopify will never contact you from a gmail.com address - do not respond, and mark that email as spam.
As a best practise always default to contacting a company through their offered support/communication channels whenever unsure such as contacting support via help.shopify.com.
Thanks!

I figured as much but wanted to confirm to be sure. Thank you!!
So I got a email from shopifytrust.infosafetyteam@gmail.com as well and I need to know if this is a scam
Hi there, @Kissedbyfire33! Thanks for taking the time to follow up on this thread! As my colleague @TyW outlined in their reply to the OP, Shopify will never contact you from an email address ending in '@gmail.com'. If you've received any emails claiming to be from Shopify and they end with '@gmail.com' we recommend that you do not engage with that email and instead report it to our Safety Team using the steps I'll outline below.
To have this email reviewed further, we ask that you share it to our Safety inbox along with the email Header information. Email headers are a part of the email code that includes sender details, allowing us to determine the email's source and report it to the appropriate parties if it is a phishing campaign.
1. Obtain the Email's Headers:
- See MX Toolbox’s guide for Getting Email Headers
- Selecting your email service provider on the left-hand navigation
- Follow the steps outlined there to download a copy of the .eml file or copy the email's source code and paste it into a text file
2. Attach the file to the email you received and forward it to safety@shopify.com.
If you receive any emails in the future and you're unsure if they're coming from Shopify, you can always reach out to our Support Team via our Help Center for faster verification, as this environment is asynchronous and we may not get to your comment or question right away. I want to outline that if you have engaged with any links or content within the email you received from that impersonating email address that you run an anti-virus scan of your device. Once done, you will want to change the login credentials for your Shopify Account so you can ensure that your account is protected.
