Enable Vintage "Simple" Theme for video with code

Hello - Shopify support has told me that my "Simple"  theme is not enabled for video that you upload to the media bin. They told me I need to change to a 2.0 theme and that they never updated the Simple theme. i heavily modified the simple theme to my liking over the course of 4 years. I can't just simply switch to a 2,0 theme. Has anyone updated the code in the platform to enable older themes. Shopify said they cannot help me with that. Hopefully someone here has also done this.

and yes - I know I can use embedded video from YouTube - I don't want to do that - that is what I am doing now. Sometimes you want to record a quick video with your mobile device and just upload it to the product page.

Thanks - if you can post the steps here so others can also benefit that would be great. unless you are a partner and provide this as a service I assume and are looking to get paid - then I understand why you can't. Thanks

Hi @retrogameboyz this is an advanced theme customization of which a full tutorial is beyond the scope of a forum post.

At minimum you would need to show your work so far with narrow scoped technical questions.

If code savvy see some of the below dev docs for settings, and or go through the dawn theme and see how it setups up either JSON template or section settings.

Keep in mind putting a setting on a product page will make that setting video value the same for EVERY product unless you also use dynamic sources or just make a custom video behavior.
