I am trying to upload images to my product, but I get the error: There was an issue processing the uploaded media. Please try again later.

I have been having this issue just recently. Is there any way I can resolve this?

@WTT001

  • Is the image larger than 20Mb?
  • Is the image larger than 20Mp?
  • What file type are you trying to upload?

Hi,

To answer your questions:

Is the image larger than 20Mb?

No. It is much smaller. The average size being about 2MB

Is the image larger than 20Mp?

No. It is considerably less.

What file types are you trying to upload?

It is JPG files.

Sometimes the images upload, and sometimes the same image do not upload. This issue is completely random.

Kind Regards.

Thank you for letting me know. In that case, I would record the time the error occurs, then contact Shopify Support. Support can escalate this to our Technical Support for further review. You can contact support by logging into your store through the help center, searching your question/issue, then selecting "continue" at the bottom of the page that displays the search results.

it's just a normal Jpg. This has never been an issue for over 6-7 years.

The file is 20kb

Also for some reason uploading the image from my work mac is fine but my personal mac won't work. Like all of a sudden it just stopped working.

If it's working on one device, but not the other, that could suggest it's a local-ended issue. I would try troubleshooting your browser.

  • Clear cache/cookies, restart the browser and try again
  • Use Google Chrome Incognito mode
  • Use a different browser

Experiencing this same exact issue right now. Uploading photos etc has been very quick and simple for the past years, however all of a sudden recently I am getting this same exact error while trying to upload photos.

Sometimes it works, and sometimes it gives this error.

Wasting so much time trying to simply upload photos.

Support told me it was a "local" issue but it is not. I am experiencing this issue on both windows PC, and MacBook. Also have tried different internet connections.

Yes I have done the local troubleshooting as well which did nothing.

Hopefully this gets resolved.

If your file is under 20Mb and 20mp, then I would recommend contacting support for further assistance. You can do this by using the link in my previous reply.
