External booking sites and Shopify - Inventory automation

Hi there,

I sell classes through Shopify as my primary booking system. I also list these classes on other sites like ClassBento and Craft Courses.

Can anyone think of a way to automate our inventory management? I would like to ensure that classes do not get overbooked as people book across the different platforms.

Would love any ideas!

Hey Jess! Super cool you offer crafting classes. What is you website btw? The answer below is a great answer if those two companies you use actually have APIs for these booking companies to be able to utilize the webhooks. With these two companies being a bit on the smaller side, they might not have that availability to send information to the booking companies mentioned. 

I would check with both of the companies and see if their inventories can be adjusted by outside sources or if it has to be manual. Usually I just look for documentation for devs but it doesn't look like they have this. My guess is that everything is manual but maybe there is a way. 

Shopify on the other hand can absolutely be adjusted by outside sources. So if you wanted to do this only for Shopify I can at least think of 1 work-around even if the other two companies do not have an API. I assume both of these companies send you an email template that states booking information. This information can be parsed and used as a trigger to adjust Shopify inventory. Zappier would be the no code way or you could do this with google app scripts by programming this automation. This still only adjusts inventory in 1 spot though and I imagine that isn't too helpful if the other two can not update as well.
