Hello, I have a Shopify eCommerce site Stache Fabric and Notions, www.mystache.ca and we sell fabric off the bolt.
Shopify only has incremental purchase units in whole numbers for inventory qty. ie 1,2,3,4.
We are trying to find a reasonable way to change the increment scale to fractions. ie .126.96.36.199... or .2.5, .5, .75,1, 1.25 etc as we sell fabric in less than 1 metre cuts.
On the ecommerce site we have described the units within the product description as 1 = 1/4m, 2 = .5m, 3= .75m, 4 = 1m.
The unit price is setup as the 1/4 of the metre.
Has other fabric stores or other products stores selling fractional units have similar challenges?
I cannot afford several thousands of dollars for some of the independent developers solving this issue.
I'd appreciate any feedback or approaches that could work as we are looking to migrate to a Shopify POS system as well.
Yes I have the same problem.
So far I have only found an expensive plugin to do that, and as I am just starting out, do not want to commit to that.
Apparently, it's possible in Shopify in Germany & France. as a part of the themes.. why not everywhere?
Custom code in the theme would be the best option dir this as it will be one time cost if you want I can give you the cost.
Lets connect on call or email.
Just emailed you please check.
I am working on this solution for a client let me know if you also need my service for the same.
check out the FABRICSHOP app and see if they help, that's who we use for incremental fabric shopping. You can only sell in 1/4m though no .1 .2 .3 etc. So we had to move everything to 1/4m but to the customer shopping online now 1 = 1m not 0.25 of a meter.
They are decent to deal with.
The alternative is to use integer units to represent decimal/fractional quantities , either 1to1 or an increase in scale.
I.e. 1 = 0.1 , or 25units = 1/4
Then in tandem with customizations to the theme and notifications etc present the integers as the needed unit system.
I went looking for this FABRICSHOP app and it doesn't seem to exsist, the quantity is an issue for me also
