Facebook App Not Working well anymore!

Hey Everyone,

The last 15 days have been tough. Everything was running smoothly on my store, and the Facebook pixel tracked perfectly until September 6th, when it suddenly stopped. Sales dropped to zero, even though there were clicks but no landing page views.

I use the Facebook & Instagram app to integrate the pixel with Shopify and never made any changes. Between September 6th and 10th, I had sales, but the pixel didn’t track them. Shopify and Facebook support said everything is fine, but I’ve had 37 sales with no tracking. Should I switch to manual tracking? The issue is, I have products with different prices, and manual tracking only supports one specific value. I really need help!

Hi @Aftababd

I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you've been facing with your Facebook Pixel tracking and the subsequent drop in sales since September 6th. It's frustrating when things suddenly stop working, especially when no changes were made on your end. Let's delve into some potential solutions to get your tracking back on track.

1. Reinstall the Facebook & Instagram App:

Sometimes, the integration between Shopify and Facebook can encounter glitches. Uninstalling and then reinstalling the Facebook & Instagram app can help reset the connection. Here's how:

  • In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.
  • Click on Facebook & Instagram.
  • Select Remove to uninstall the app.
  • After removal, reinstall the app from the Shopify App Store and follow the setup instructions to reconnect your Facebook account and Pixel.

This process can often resolve tracking issues by refreshing the integration.

2. Verify Pixel Installation:

Ensure that the Pixel is correctly installed and active:

  • Use the Facebook Pixel Helper Chrome extension to check if the Pixel is firing on your website.
  • Navigate through your store (e.g., view products, add items to cart) and see if the Pixel Helper detects these events.
  • If events like "Add to Cart" or "Purchase" aren't being detected, there might be an issue with how the Pixel is set up.

3. Consider Manual Pixel Integration:

If the app-based integration isn't capturing all events, manual integration might be a solution:

  • Add the Pixel code directly to your theme's theme.liquid file.
  • Manually set up event tracking for actions like "Add to Cart" and "Purchase."

However, as you've noted, manual tracking can be limiting, especially with products of varying prices. Each event would need to be configured to capture dynamic values, which can be complex.

4. Explore Third-Party Pixel Integration Apps:

There are apps designed to enhance Pixel tracking capabilities:

  • Trackify X: Offers advanced tracking features and supports multiple Pixels.
  • Facebook Multi Pixels: Allows for more granular tracking and better data accuracy.

These apps can provide more robust tracking solutions compared to the default integration.

5. Check for Theme or App Conflicts:

Sometimes, other apps or custom code can interfere with Pixel tracking:

  • Review any recent app installations or theme customizations made around September 6th.
  • Disable or remove any new apps or code to see if tracking resumes.

6. Consult with a Professional:

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it might be beneficial to consult with a Shopify expert or developer who specializes in Pixel integrations. They can perform a thorough audit of your store's setup and identify any underlying issues.
