For the last few weeks on Saturdays only our customers have been quoted free shipping under $99 with purolator. Currently have an open case with the shipping platform we use that is linked to shopify which doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast. We have our rate set so only above 99 should be getting free shipping. Wondering if anyone else uses SmarttShip and has come across this issue at all? They told us it must be that the item has no weight which is not the case as they all have weights and its still happening.

hi @Bannerrec I recommend checking the following steps and considerations to help address the issue you're experiencing with SmarttShip on Saturdays.

  • Double-check your SmarttShip settings for any conditional rules that might be active on Saturdays.
  • Look for any scheduling or time-based rules that could be causing the discrepancy.

On the Shopify side,

  • Ensure your shipping rates in Shopify are correctly set, specifically that free shipping only applies to orders over $99.
  • Verify that no conflicting rules or additional shipping profiles might affect the rates.

On the Product side,

  • Confirm that all products have weights assigned. Even though you mentioned this has been checked, rechecking can ensure every product has a weight.

Once these checks are complete:

  • Ensure no active discounts, promotions, or shipping discount codes are inadvertently applied on Saturdays.
  • Check any available logs or order histories on SmarttShip to see if there are any anomalies or patterns specifically on Saturdays.
  • Provide detailed information about the issue, including screenshots, specific order details, and any patterns you have observed.

Apart from this, I would recommend some alternate solutions that you can explore as failsafes or move completely with them:

  • Temporarily set manual shipping rates for Saturdays to ensure customers are not quoted free shipping incorrectly.
  • Use another Shipping App that offers conditional shipping based on the cart subtotal. I suggest trying our Multi-Carrier Shipping Label app that allows you to set one-time rules to calculate shipping rates and display them on the Shopify checkout.

Hello, you can easily prevent free shipping from appearing on orders under $99 using the ShipRight app. Here’s how to do it:

 

  1. Open the app and click the "Add a new rule" button.
  2. Click "Add a new condition" and select the "Cart subtotal" option.
  3. Choose "Hide if less than", then enter “99” in the "Cart subtotal" field.
  4. Enter the "Free Shipping" if that's your shipping option name in the "Additional shipping methods" field.
  5. Finally, click the "Save" button.

That’s it! The Free Shipping option will now be hidden for orders under $99, ensuring customers are charged the correct shipping fees.

It was already set like that. Shopify support got it fixed eventually. It was something wrong in the background they said
