Free shipping issues

We are still having issues with free shipping and discount codes. 
We do NOT want people to get both free shipping and use a discount code for a percentage off. 
We tried putting in a code for the free shipping thinking that since we have the site set for codes NOT to combine that would do the trick but it didn't. 
Wondering if we are supposed to go into RATES and remove the Free Shipping over $150. option in order for this to happen?

You're on the right track, but removing the free shipping option entirely isn't necessary. Here's how to prevent customers from stacking free shipping with discount codes:

Shopify doesn't currently allow stacking discounts that include both free shipping and a percentage off by default.

Here are two alternative approaches:

1. Use Automatic Free Shipping with Minimum Order Value:

Instead of a discount code for free shipping, create an automatic free shipping offer based on a minimum order value. Here's how:

• Go to your Shopify admin panel.
• Navigate to Discounts > Create discount.
• Select Free shipping as the discount type.
• Choose Automatic discount instead of "Discount code" under the Method section.
• Set a minimum order value for free shipping to apply.
• This way, customers automatically get free shipping when their order reaches the minimum amount, and discount codes won't affect it.

1. Create Separate Discount Codes:

You can offer separate discount codes for free shipping and a percentage off. Here's the catch:

• In Shopify, discount codes can't be explicitly configured to not combine with each other. However, customers can only use one code at checkout. By providing separate codes, you encourage them to choose the one that benefits them most

We have tried both of these and it still allows customers to get free shipping and use a discount code. 
We first offered automatic free shipping over $150. Then noticed that people were using both so we
now have it set up for free shipping over $150 and set a code to be able to receive this. 
The percentage off is a code also which they should not be able to use together but it still allows both
to go through.

What happens if we turn this off/ delete? 
Will people still be able to use a Free shipping code?
