All things Shopify and commerce
Hello everyone,
I've had my Shopify store since March 2023 and I've been getting a consistent 5 - 20 visits a day. I know I won't get 10,000 visits immediately but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm active on my business social media accounts and tried doing giveaways and other strategies to get potential customers but that didn't work. I see these similar small businesses that haven't been open for 2 months and they have been more successful than myself.
My website: Lashjubilation.com
I recently conducted a thorough audit of your website, focusing on both technical and off-page SEO aspects, to identify potential areas for improvement in generating organic traffic.
Technical Insights:
The technical audit yielded a 100% SEO rating, showcasing a robust foundation. However, during manual code inspection, I did uncover a noteworthy issue. The h1 tag for your main page is currently wrapped around your logo rather than incorporating a valuable keyword phrase. Google relies on this information to rank your site in response to user searches. Rectifying this involves a simple adjustment, such as enclosing the logo within a div tag and strategically placing a hidden h1 tag with essential keywords near the page's top.
While this discrepancy was identified, it's crucial to acknowledge the positive aspects. Your meta information is meticulously filled out, and the title is well-optimized.
Additionally, have you explored Google's free product placement on their sales page? Furthermore, leveraging Google Search Console to monitor your indexed pages periodically, alongside your existing use of analytics, could provide valuable insights.
Off-page SEO Assessment:
On the off-page front, your domain authority is currently at 1, indicating a limited ranking potential. Boosting backlinks is instrumental in enhancing this score. My strategy typically involves researching high-ranking competitors using tools like MOZ to gain insights into their content and link-building approaches.
For broader visibility, consider engaging with platforms like Quora. A simple search such as "Quora Best Lip Gloss" can unearth relevant discussions. Participating in these conversations by sharing insights about your product and including a link to your site not only enhances visibility but also contributes to building a robust online presence. This proactive approach creates additional online footprints for your website.
In conclusion, while there are areas for enhancement, your website demonstrates strengths that, when coupled with strategic adjustments, can significantly amplify organic traffic and overall SEO performance.
Let me know if you need some help I can guide you in any way you need.
Thank you for your detailed audit! I need help with understanding the SEO and Google ranking. Could you explain a little more on how to improve?
Google utilizes an algorithm to determine the ranking of websites. This ranking is influenced by the content on your site as well as references to your site on other platforms. Google assesses these factors to decide how prominently your site should appear based on a user's search terms. The concept of Domain Authority, pioneered by MOZ, quantifies your site's visibility on Google. Essentially, it reflects how the algorithm perceives your authority on a given topic, scored on a scale from 1 to 100.
For newer sites, especially those less than a year old, Domain Authority typically registers below 10. Over time, your score is likely to increase, partly due to the mere fact of your site aging.
An effective strategy for boosting visibility involves strategically placing your website URL across the internet. Initiatives such as signing up on platforms like Yellowpages.com, Yelp.com, LinkedIn, and various social media platforms can contribute significantly. Ensure that your URL is prominently featured in the information section of these platforms. Additionally, fully complete your Google Business page, maximizing the information available to enhance your online presence.
All of these things will help. Blogging will help but isn't as powerful as it used to be. You absolutely should be taking advantage of Googles free feature for selling products. If you go to your sales channel in the Shopify dashboard and search Google. Once you have this sales channel you will see a section that says something about listing your product in Google Shopping for free. This is what you want to sign up for and sync your products with.
How do I fix my h1 tag? Do you mean the Google & YouTube sales channel app? That's the one I downloaded.
