Getting very low conversion rate on my website. Please help on how to fix this!

I am getting an extremely low conversion rate of 0.06% on my shopify store. I have tried to enhance product images and description, added a sticky add to cart button, added shipping time, reviews and offer banners. Our products are really good as well. Am getting approx 300-350 visitors to the site daily, we are getting add to carts and checkouts, but they are not converting. What could be the possible reason and how to address this?

I am currently running google shopping campaign. We also tried meta earlier but I paused it since we didn't get too many conversions. All pixels are added. If anyone has any solutions, would be really helpful! Thanks

You're doing a lot of the right things already—good traffic, optimized product pages, sticky cart, trust elements, etc.—so the issue likely lies deeper in checkout friction or ad targeting misalignment. Here are some focused areas to troubleshoot:

1. Checkout Issues (Most Likely Culprit)

  • High abandonments at checkout suggest customers are hitting roadblocks:
  • Unexpected shipping costs, taxes, or final prices.
  • Limited payment methods (e.g., no PayPal, no BNPL).
  • Slow or buggy checkout experience.

Fix: Test your entire checkout flow on both desktop and mobile. Also, consider enabling accelerated checkouts (like Shop Pay, PayPal, etc.).

2. Ad Traffic Quality

  • You’re getting add-to-carts, but are your Google Shopping campaigns targeting high-intent buyers?
  • Are your keywords too broad or attracting window shoppers?

Fix: Use negative keywords, focus on long-tail terms, and check your search term reports to weed out irrelevant traffic. Also, test manual bidding if you’re on Smart Shopping/Performance Max.

3. Lack of Urgency or Incentive

Even with a great product, sometimes people need a final push.

Fix: Add

  • Limited-time offers
  • Exit-intent popups
  • Upsells using something like iCart Cart Drawer Cart Upsell to show discounts or bundles during checkout—it can increase urgency and AOV.

4. Cart Recovery Strategy

  • Are you sending abandoned cart emails with a small discount or reminder?
  • Are you running retargeting ads to bring them back?

Fix: Make sure your email/SMS flows are active and offer a real reason to return (discount, testimonial, urgency).

5. Trust & Social Proof

  • Reviews are great—but are they convincing? Do they feel real?
  • Do you have UGC (user-generated content) like real-life customer photos or video testimonials?

Fix: If not, start reaching out to past buyers or influencers for this content.

If you’re getting that much traffic and add-to-carts daily, you're very close. A few tweaks to the checkout flow, trust building, and better post-cart experience could unlock a major boost. You're on the right track—just needs fine-tuning!

Hi @laviere - One of the low-hanging fruits is showing accurate delivery dates for each shipping method. This removes any doubt in the shopper's mind. Also, just check if your shipping costs are too high as compared to competitors. It could be one of the key reasons for carts getting abandoned.

We are giving free shipping on prepaid orders. I removed COD payment method
since we were getting mostly fake orders. So shipping charges don’t seem to
be the issue

Thanks so much! This does give me a direction to work towards.

Points - 1-3 - I will work towards optimising that

Point 4 - We are sending automatic mailers with extra discounts to people who have abandoned their carts, but those haven't converted as well. Re-targeting them is a good strategy.

Will upload UGC content and videos as well. Hopefully that should make the buying decision easier.

Glad it helped! Sounds like you’re heading in the right direction—once you get that UGC and checkout flow dialed in, you should start seeing better conversion numbers. Keep testing and tweaking—sometimes small changes make a big difference. You've got this!
