Hi @DAIMOAH,
It seems like you are facing an issue where Google is indexing the search page of your collection instead of the actual collection page on your Shopify store. This can happen if there are multiple URLs pointing to similar content, which might confuse search engines.
To address this issue, you can try the following steps:
Canonical Tags: Ensure that your collection pages have the correct canonical tags pointing to themselves. This helps search engines understand which version of a page should be considered the main one.
Check Internal Linking: Make sure that your internal links point to the correct collection pages and not to search result pages.
Robots.txt and Meta Tags: Use the robots.txt file or meta tags to prevent search engines from indexing search result pages. You can disallow these pages in your robots.txt file.
To disallow search pages in your robots.txt file, you can add a directive that specifies the path to your search pages. For example, if your search pages are located under /search, you would add the following lines to your robots.txt file:
User-agent: * Disallow: /search
This will prevent all search engines that respect the robots.txt file from crawling any URLs that start with /search. However, it's generally recommended to use meta robots tags or robots HTTP headers to manage crawling and indexing more effectively. You can read more about this in the ultimate guide to robots.txt.
Google Search Console: Use Google Search Console to submit the correct URLs and request indexing. You can also check for any crawl errors or issues related to duplicate content.
Yoast SEO for Shopify: If you are using Yoast SEO for Shopify, it can help manage these settings more efficiently by providing tools to set up canonical URLs and manage indexing preferences.
