All things Shopify and commerce
All,
I am having two issue with Google Search Console:
1) After submitting my sitemap to the Google Search Console, in every way I have read about so far, I still continue to get the Couldn't fetch status even over days of time.
Below is the format-types I have tried (obviously "mybrandname" is a placeholder and I used my real Shopify URLs) but all fail the fetch:
((https://mybrandname.myshopify.com/sitemap.xml) | (https://mybrandname.myshopify.com/sitemap_products.xml) | https://mybrandname.myshopify.com/sitemap_products_1.xml)
2) I am unable to add Google verification code to validate ownership of the Shopify domain name that I purchased in addition to my Shopify plan (www.mybrandname.com) that I have a working redirect to https://mybrandname.myshopify.com.
I have gone into the domains>domain settings>edit dns settings>add a custom record but am not able to (or not smart enough to) add any tags or code that Google asks me to to verify I am the owner of the domain.
Side notes:
-I do have the Google App installed on my Shopify site.
-I am using the Dawn Shopify template.
-When I go to https://mybrandname.myshopify.com/sitemap.xml I get the following message: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."
I am sure I am overlooking something simple, but if you can point me in the right direction I would most appreciate it!

Nik,
Thank you, I have resolved the fetch issue with Google after following your suggestion. I think the process is just confusing as to adding all of the elements to the various google services.
Thanks again!
However, I am still not sure where to go to add the Google code to my non-shopify
Hey @Slowbutlearning,
Have you tried submitting the sitemap as https://YOURDOMAIN.com/sitemap.xml. I mean without including the "myshopify.com". When you go to https://YOURDOMAIN.com/sitemap.xml, what does it show? The same error as in the case with the "myshopify"?
Google verification –– you insert it as TXT DNS record. Have you tried this?
Feel free to provide me with some screenshots. I'll be happy to help you out.
