Hello Shopify Community,

I am currently facing a pivotal decision with my business and am seeking insights from this knowledgeable community. We are contemplating shutting down our current company and transitioning to a new company. However, we intend to maintain our current Shopify online store exactly as it is now.

Our primary concern is how this change in the legal entity might impact the settings and operations of our Shopify store. We are unsure of the procedures, potential issues, and any necessary steps we need to take to ensure a smooth transition while keeping our store running effectively.

Could anyone with experience or knowledge in this area explain how changing the legal entity affects a Shopify store? Any guidance on how to navigate this change without disrupting our online business would be greatly appreciated.

You can change the store details directly within the Shopify admin, and we have a guide on that here: Adding business settings for your store. However, if you're using Shopify Payments and you need to update the business registration, then you'll need to get in touch with us in order to update the name on the payments account and registration-based tax details. While we're unable to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community, we'd be happy to continue assisting you with this through live chats.
