Has anyone else been banned for using the eBay app? I added the app, uploaded my products, then got banned? I then got this email
Your eBay account has been permanently suspended because we noticed activity that we believe is a risk to our community.
This means the following:
- You can’t buy or sell on eBay any longer. Any other accounts that you own or that are associated with this account have also been suspended.
- Outstanding selling fees are due immediately, and any amounts that you haven’t previously disputed will be charged to the payment method we have on file.
The safety of our community is a top priority for us, so our decision to permanently suspend your account is final and can’t be appealed.
I tried to email and ask for an explanation, I mentioned that all I did was use an app from Shopify, upload products and the next thing, I'm banned. I've had no reply and looks like I have now lost my eBay account.
Yep, I got this exact email from eBay and then a second one banning me permanently with no recourse for appeal.
I have no idea what I did except for connect my Shopify account with eBay - and when I called up I was told there was no ability to appeal the decision and they would not tell me what I did wrong.
So who knows!! I'm assuming this means I'm always banned from selling on eBay - that's a lot of fun!!
This has just happened to us. Opened an eBay account from Shopify, activated products and 2 days later get a notification that our eBay account has been permanently banned. Our products are syncing without any issues with Google, Facebook and Pinterest. Does anyone know what triggers this ban from eBay?

I have no idea what we did wrong - just got banned after connecting Shopify and eBay will not discuss it as their decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Me too, and not 20 minutes after creating my account and listing my first product. Someone on eBay's forum said that
They don't want people using that information to bypass whatever caused the suspension.
but this thinking is utterly senseless, because people who don't already know why they were suspended were never breaking the rules knowingly in the first place. Those are precisely the people who need to be told, very explicitly, what they did wrong. I know a bot triggered the banning and sent the email. There was no "decision", as they so cutely put it, and how could there be when apparently there aren't any humans still at ebay. Seems like the bots have totally taken over at this point.
Exactly, it's completely nonsense and a very bad experience using eBay. If I knew what I did wrong or what to look out for, I would change it in a heartbeat but I just have no idea what that bot is looking at!
I just got my new eBay account suspended after using the Shopify eBay app also!! What the heck are we supposed to do about it? It took me 30 minutes to find a way to contact eBay about this. Did you get your account reinstated??
And Shopify did NOTHING to help this situation???? They are the ones who caused it by allowing this sales channel and not telling people you can't do it!!
For anyone who has a Shopify account and then added a new eBay seller account, only to have it suspended, here's what you need to do:
1. Navigate to the "Have us call you." Option on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/help/contact_us?id=4190&st=10
2. Explain that you are with Shopify and added the eBay sales channel.
You should get reinstated immediately (well, you have to give it a couple of hours), but the deal is they have to "verify who you are before you can sell from Shopify."
And to be safe, I did delete any links I had on my pages to other pages on Shopify so when I import the pages to eBay there should be no issues. HOWEVER, I did ask the rep if it's an issue if I have videos explaining the products on YouTube, and she said that is not a problem when doing imports. I have no idea if they delete those in the listing, or what, but I'm leaving those videos and if there's an issue, I will have them call me back. They called me in literally less than a minute!
So don't give up! Be like a dog with a bone if they shut you off because of the eBay sales channel on Shopify. I truly think you just have to be verified, unless they told you there was another issue. The woman found my account right away and was very pleasant and got the job done.
I'm going to add to my own posting that you must use the chat screen from the link above, then click MORE, as it's not really a chat, and at the VERY BOTTOM there is an option to have eBay call you. They have called within one minute, but with all that said, once they reinstated me yesterday, I was told to just go in and "relist" my items. Well, guess what? There is NO relist button. I tried SAVE and Publish, which is the only option. I get an inventory internal server error. I'm on DAY THREE of this fiasco between eBay and Shopify. Is it worth it? Nothing works in this world anymore. All the levels of Big Tech that are supposed to make our lives easier! It's a crock, and we might as well go back to pencils and paper for the time you have to spend dealing with foreign customer service reps, bad information, and bad service. Who else wants to chuck it all, go live in a shack in the middle of nowhere and grow your own food?!!!
