Hello everyone! I'm really new to this so please forgive me if this might be a repetitive subject question. I'm seeking clarification on the subject of payment capture. I recently opened my first online store this past Memorial Day weekend selling POD products and have made a few sales. I've chosen to capture payments manually as I watched a Shopify video on YouTube which stated that in doing so, one could complete the transaction using the customer's payment instead of your own capitol by waiting for it to be deposited into your Balance acct. via Shopify Payments usually within 24 hrs. Now, I haven't actually done this yet as I've waited a few days for that to happen but no money is deposited so, as I get anxious, I've been covering the payment, and that's when I actually get the payout date, which has been 7 days from the date of purchase, where I'd risk the transaction being cancelled if I'd waited for the payment ( I believe ). This has been with Visa consistently and Am. Ex. (PayPal has been instantaneous so far). I've contemplated only using PayPal to PayPal with Printify (the company I use for POD) to simplify and rectify this but in doing so I'd lose Shop and my Meta store connection and I think it would interfere with certain shipping settings. So I was wondering, has anyone successfully captured a customer's funds in time this way to use instead of your own? If I wait, would I get a payout date while waiting without covering the transaction myself? That would be most convenient and a relief financially if so. I hope this wasn't too confusing. Thank you for your quick response Theodore. I failed to mention that at first I started with automatic capture as it came as a  standard setting, but when I started getting sales it was sucking funds directly from my checking account instantly, which it was connected to at the time, and not the customer's payment method so I changed it to manual payments to prevent that. Maybe I had things set up poorly? It is now connected to my Balance account but I expect the same would happen there.
