I'm working on a Shopify migration, and I'm curious about any experiences using Brandlock with Shopify for coupon extension and ad blocking? Does Shopify offer any of that natively? Or are there any other apps we should consider?

I'm also curious about any experiences you may have had with Brandlock as a service.

Thanks!

Hi @heycopper1215

I see you're in the middle of a Shopify migration and want to know if Brandlock is a good solution for blocking coupon extensions and unwanted ads. Let’s break it down.

Does Shopify Offer Native Coupon Extension & Ad Blocking?

No, Shopify does not have built-in features to block coupon extensions (like Honey or Capital One Shopping) or remove competitor ads from your site. Shopify’s core security prevents malicious activity but doesn't stop browser extensions from scraping and applying discount codes.

Is Brandlock a Good Solution?

Brandlock is one of the few services specifically designed to block coupon extensions and third-party pop-up ads that could steal conversions. It works by:

Blocking coupon extensions
from auto-applying discounts at checkout.
Removing injected competitor ads that could pull traffic away.
Preventing script-based price scraping by bots.

Many Shopify Plus merchants use Brandlock for better control over pricing and discounting. However, it’s a paid service, and its effectiveness depends on your traffic and business model.

Alternative Apps to Consider

If you want similar functionality without committing to Brandlock, here are other Shopify apps:
🔹 CleanCART by Trackify – Blocks unwanted coupon extensions.
🔹 Namogoo – Prevents unauthorized ads and price scraping.
🔹 Reckon.ai – Helps detect price leakage and unauthorized discounting.

These options work similarly and might be worth testing based on your store’s needs.

Final Thoughts

If you're seeing high discount abuse or conversion loss due to coupon extensions, Brandlock (or similar tools) can be helpful. But if it's not a major issue, you might not need it. I’d suggest testing Brandlock’s free trial (if available) or checking reviews from merchants with similar store sizes before committing.

Let me know if you need more details. Thanks!
Daisy.
