Having trouble with getting the most recent products in a collection

Right now I can't seem to put the newest products in a collection. I just put up some random products from the past and both title of the collection says new arrival. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Hey Bob,

I'm not 100% sure what you're describing - more details would be very helpful in troubleshooting this issue. 

One common mistake with adding products to collections is whether the colletion is manual or automated. Adding products to a manual collection is fairly easy, but if the collection is automated, you will need to make sure the products meet the conditions for the collection. 

You cannot manually add products to an automated collection. You also cannot change an automated collection to a manual collection - the only way would be to delete and recreate the collection as a manual one. 

Finally, if you're just looking to edit the order of the products within the collection, you can use the sort drop-down menu to choose an order:

Hi Bob, 

settings the sort order the collection to Newest first, as Stephen suggested is a step in the right direction. However, if you want to limit the number of the new arrivals, you'd need to modify your theme.
