Help with "Your domain has no CNAME record" for Subdomain

I currently use a subdomain for my store.

For example, store.[domain_name].com. This domain works and goes to my store.

When I go to www.store.[domain_name].com, I get an error that the site is possibly not secure and that the domain is misconfigured.

Additionally, when I go into the settings to my store, I see this error stating that "Your domain has no CNAME record"

I currently use Bluehost for my hosting. Here is how I have my DNS records set up.

Can someone tell me how to correct my DNS records so that I no longer get the errors that I mentioned above?

Hey @sam_smy,

Thanks for reaching out!

You will need to change the following records via Bluehost:

  • Point the A record to the Shopify IPv4 address 23.227.38.65. If necessary, then change the Host name to the @ symbol.
  • Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
  • Point the AAAA record to the Shopify IPv6 address 2620:0127:f00f:5::. If necessary, then change the Host name to the @ symbol.
  • Delete any other AAAA records on the domain if there are any present.
  • Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.. Be sure to include the period at the end of the domain.

We have a fantastic guide that walks you through the steps in more detail right here.

This does not answer my question in any way. Before asking my question, I have reviewed the website: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/domains/add-a-domain/connecting-domains/connect-domain-manual.

There was nothing on that page that helped me, which is why I posted in this forum.

Your response does not refer to any of the information that I provided regarding my issue.

The screenshot you shared states that there is no CNAME record present and I can see in the other screenshot of your Bluehost settings that the CNAME is entered incorrectly. As stated above:

  • Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com. Be sure to include the period at the end of the domain.

The guide above states which records you need to add to your DNS records via Bluehost to rectify the issue.

That solution does not work for a subdomain.
