All things Shopify and commerce
Hi! I am looking for a way to hide a coming soon variant on my page until the launch date but also be able to accept the full purchase order so my inventory stays accurate. I don't want to set the inventory to 0 or have the new color displayed on my site as I don't want people to think I am sold out of the product.. I used to have individual products for each color but this was messing up my reporting. I do a lot of wholesale and this would save me a lot of time this way as well. Really hope there is a way!
My website is www.shop-paiya.com
https://www.shop-paiya.com/collections/serenity/products/rein-leggings?variant=47561908158701
If you look at this product I am looking to hide the Arctic, Black and Quartz colors as they are all launching at a later date but I have the full inventory now..
Hi,
This is Richard at PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.
1. Utilize Shopify's "Continue Selling When Out of Stock" Option
2. Theme Customization (Advanced)
3. Shopify Apps (Consider these if you're not comfortable with coding)
Hoping my solution helps you solve your problem.
Best regards,
Richard | PageFly

Hi Aly @paiyaathleisure ! 👋🏻
Rather than hiding the variants (which can be tricky), have you explored the option of displaying your new colors as "Coming Soon" with preorder info such as the expected fulfilment date shown on the product page?
You could also capture expressions of interest through restock alert email sign-ups (in this case, you're capturing emails for preorders) while you wait for the launch date to arrive.
Understand in most wholesale cases you'd want to do draft (pre)orders for POs or offer custom pricing for each customer. But if it happens that your wholesale customers don't require special pricing or terms (i.e. they're happy to place a full wholesale purchase order via your DTC storefront), with a preorder app like ours (Early Bird), you'll have the options to:
1. Run preorders for the new colors and accept full purchase orders right away (secure cash flow earlier).
2. Run preorders for the products and allow customers to place a partial deposit of any $ or % amount (even $0) to reserve their products (capture a commitment to buy).
3. Display Coming Soon for the products, and allow your customers to sign-up for specific variants email alerts (capture an expression of interest).
Of course, you'll still have the option to list the new colors as "Coming Soon", and only open up preorders on a specific launch date.
This way:
- You don't have to set your inventory to 0
- Your inventory stays accurate
- People don't think your product is sold out (They'll see it's Coming Soon)
There might be some other little details we can look into, if you can share more context with us. Hope this helps!
We have a 100% Free plan with monthly usage refreshed, if you're interested to try it out for Paiya. 🙂
