All things Shopify and commerce
we have several collection pages/test pages that we use for marketing purposes. These may be specific to a campaign, or we use them for meta carousels etc.
We have noticed that they appear in the search results even though they're hidden in the back office.
I have created a metatag but need to figure out when to put the code, or what the exact code should be.
Thanks
Ewan
Hi,
Could you kindly send your store URL over and let us know exactly which page you would like to hide and where this page is?
Regards,
Marko

Hi @Thebigyun,
It is possible to noindex certain URLs on your Shopify site. You can set a noindex tag in your meta robots tag.
Our Yoast SEO for Shopify app offers the option to select indexing or noindexing of your store's pages. You can try to test on your site, as we offer a 14-day trial period.
There are several options for individual indexing, generic indexing and by default indexing.
1) How do I noindex certain pages in Yoast SEO
You can determine if a specific page or post won’t appear in the search results by adding a noindex and/or nofollow tag (in the Advanced settings when editing a page with our app). You can select "NO" to "Allow search engines to show this Product in search results?" Please see the image below for visual reference (the example is for index):
2) Noindexed pages are excluded from sitemaps by default.
Please bear in mind that these options are available only for pages that are created by you (like products, collections, pages, blogs) and not for automatically created pages by Shopify or your theme (e.g. homepage or blog posts generated based on tags or search criteria).
3) Noindex tagged pages
In addition, with Yoast SEO for Shopify you can choose if your product tags and blog post tags should show in the search results or not (the menu is similar for blog post tags):
In case the blog posts you wish to noindex belong to this category then you can only select if you want all of them to be indexed or not, and not pick selectively.
That said, besides our app, you can exclude the tags from search engines using the guide provided by Shopify here: Hiding a page from search engines.
