How best to incorporate shipping costs into product prices for international orders?

Hello,

I am looking to include my shipping cost into my product price to basically offer “free” shipping. I see lots of stores doing this.

My question is, if you include US shipping into your product price, how do you handle international orders? There are too many countries to do the same as US so would I create a separate product with a separate price for international orders so that they only pay the calculated shipping cost?

what is the best way to go about this?

thank you

Hello @DecodingW,

If you're looking to include your shipping costs into your product prices to offer "free" shipping to your US customers, then you should consider a few different strategies for handling international orders.

One option is to create a separate product listing for international customers that includes the cost of shipping to their country. You can calculate the shipping cost for each country using Shopify's shipping settings or a third-party shipping app. By doing this, international customers will see a different price than US customers, which may require additional communication and explanation on your website or product page.

Another option is to include a flat rate or percentage-based shipping fee for international orders on top of your product price. This can be a simple and straightforward approach, but it may deter some international customers who are not willing to pay the extra shipping cost.

You can also consider setting up shipping zones and rates based on the weight or value of the order. This approach can help ensure that international customers are charged the appropriate shipping cost based on their location and the size of their order.

It's important to consider the impact of any changes you make to your pricing and shipping strategy on your overall profitability and customer experience. Be sure to test different approaches and monitor your metrics closely to ensure that you are achieving your desired results.

Overall, including shipping costs in your product prices can be an effective way to offer "free" shipping to your US customers. When it comes to international orders, consider different strategies such as creating separate product listings, charging a flat rate or percentage-based fee, or setting up shipping zones and rates. Choose the approach that best fits your business goals and customer needs.
