All things Shopify and commerce
I'm wondering if in variants if there is a option somehow to leave it blank where the customer could fill in the answer.
For example
Make-
Model-
Year-
I'm running into the problem where i'm maxed out on variants so quickly with all the options to the item being sold.
Thanks!

Hey, @colinminor
I would recommend a product options app such as the one by Avis. Product option apps will allow advanced variant creation customization and the types you can create. For example, with the Avis product options app you will be able to have a text field for the customers to fill out for your make, model, and year.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Hello @colinminor
What you are looking is custom product options. You can use a product options app to do that. I cannot recommend one, but hopefully you can find an app which helps with your case.

Thank you for helping me on getting the app avis it is working out great. I had one other question...
On the menu bar i have the following
Moto electric bike apparel offroad extra
now if i wanted to put the mouse over say Moto and how could i get it to drop down the different brands i will put under moto? Like it would say Honda, yz, ktm, like that? Instead it takes me to a page with everything but i would rather group by brand under the moto top tool bar area?
Does that make sense?
Thank you for your time.
Hi @colinminor,
It seems like your website sells Auto Parts, and based on my experience, Auto Parts websites often have large databases, making it challenging to create and manage product options and variants using Shopify's default settings (limited to 3 options and 100 variants per product).
You were suggested to use a product options app to address this issue. While such apps can help you create unlimited product options and display them in various ways, like offering text fields for Year/Make/Model (YMM) input, they might have limitations when it comes to linking YMM data with your inventory.
If you're still open to trying a product options app, I'd recommend considering Easify Product Options, which offers more versatile ways to display YMM information, such as YMM Dropdowns, YMM Text boxes, and YMM Product lists 🤗.
While our Easify Product Options app can assist you quickly, some needs of Auto Parts websites may not be fully met by it. Thus, I'd like to suggest 3 alternative solutions for your greatest benefit:
Find a specialized Shopify theme designed for Auto Parts websites that come with preset designs and features to meet your requirements.
Look for a Shopify app specifically tailored for Auto Parts, offering not only product options and variants but also additional features like showcasing brands and filtering by YMM.
Consider hiring developers to create a comprehensive and custom solution for your store, specifically tailored to your Auto Parts needs.
I hope these suggestions are helpful to you in finding the most suitable solution for your Auto Parts website 😊.
