All things Shopify and commerce
Hi! I have local pick up set up at my shopify store.
My store hours are from Monday to Friday 10 am to 2:30 pm & Saturday 9 am to 1 pm. I have notes, and messages everywhere of this schedule.
I have expected pick up time 2 hours.
The problem is that if somebody places an order after-hours, it still gives them a 2 hour pick up time. For example someone order at 5:00 pm and gave them an expected ready time of 7:00 pm.
I don't need fancy apps for them to select the day they want to pick it up, I just want the system to understand that the 2 hours are within the 10 to 2:30 time window.
is this possible?
We are having the same issue. Our store hours are 10am-6pm but it allows customers to set whatever pick up time they like. We have even had people select 11pm, 9am, etc. There must be a way to fix this...
Hi, did you find a way or workaround ?
Impossible to imagine Shopify does not include the opening hours in the settings... it's so basic...
2 years later and still no posted solution?
Hi there, @mtilleman. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community Forums and following up on this older thread. My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!
When it comes to local pick-up orders, there is no way to assign store hours to pick-up product options to control if pick-up will be made available to a customer when placing an order outside of store hours. We've seen a fair amount of feedback around building more robust controls and rules around local pick-up goods and settings, so I'm happy to pass your interest in this functionality along to the team, as well as flag this thread for their awareness.
Customers can be presented with information to firmly set expectations around when their orders may be available for pickup. We have a help document here that outlines how some Shopify Themes already present this information to customers browsing your site. Additionally, information around pick-up can be added to product descriptions, or added as a section itself to product pages. You can also create a 'pick-up orders' page explaining how pick-up orders work for your customers.
Another suggestion I have is to look into adjusting the 'expected pick-up time' message found in 'Settings > Shipping and Delivery > Pick-up in store' into something longer, such as '24 hours. This sets the expectation for customers that it could be 24 hours before the order is available (so those late minute orders outside store hours don't set a false expectation) and you can then provide these orders well before the 24 hour expectation during the day, pleasing customers around how 'quickly' you fulfilled things for them.
Another suggestion is to use the 'Default Theme Content' editor to adjust the messaging related to your local pick-up expectation message. This can allow you to provide the desired pick-up range, but then you can adjust the wording of the message to include that if an order is placed for pick-up outside of store hours, then the wait will be longer. I've linked a help document in this paragraph to assist you with using this tool, but you can absolutely follow up with me here if you have specific questions about making this change!
