All things Shopify and commerce
Hello, at the begging when I created the site I created variants and I added":" at the end of each variant. Now when you add the product in the cart it has double "::". i have 400 products on my shop, is there any way to remove the ":" at the end of the variant
Hi there, this could be done by running something against a product export of yours (using Excel, etc), by using an app (like Matrixify, Bulk Product Edit, etc), or via the Shopify API (a small app to do it).
Whatever you decide to do make sure to make a backup of your products before you do anything.
Let us know if you need a hand.
Cheers.

That's definitely not a desired result! But there's a pretty straightforward fix - you just need to edit the variant details in your Shopify admin. Go to Products > All products, and then click on the product that you want to edit. On the product details page, click on the "Variants" tab, and then click on the "Edit" button for the variant that you want to edit. From there, you can delete the extra ":" that was added to the variant name. Just be sure to click "Save" once you've made your changes. Does that make sense?
Hi @Aleonor,
I have a suggestion for you. To efficiently handle the removal of "::" from your variant names in a large inventory of 400 products, I recommend the following steps 😊:
First, export all your products to a "CSV for Excel, Numbers, or other spreadsheet programs" file.
Open the exported CSV file in Excel.
Utilize the "Data > Text to Columns" feature to split the variant names containing "::" into 2 separate columns. This will effectively separate the text before and after "::".
Once separated, you can simply delete the column containing "::", leaving you with the modified variant names.
Save the file.
Reimport this updated CSV file back into your Shopify store.
By following these steps, you can efficiently clean up your variant names without the need for any additional apps. This method should help you manage the task quickly and effectively.
Hello, just wanted to ask if reimporting the updated csv file will duplicate the products, I want to replace multiple variant names.
Hi, @nd23123.
Thank you for reaching out!
Once you upload your CSV file you will see an option for the new CSV file to overwrite your currently one.

Hi Emily!
Hope I'm not "too late to the party" regarding this question.
I tried the bulk editing of titles using the CSV export/import feature.
BUT: some of our original titled items still lingered after importing new ones with new names/SKU. It was easy to find them and remove them, but still took some extra time.
