All things Shopify and commerce
Hi I have a question. I just installed the GDPRmo consent app in my store and I cannot find anywhere the option to turn off the native Shopify Theme cookie consent popup. Currently both show up which is annoying. Can anyone suggest how to turn off the native consent box?
I believe what you're looking for is as follows:
Sales Channels>Online Store>Preferences, and scroll down to customer privacy. This will affect customers in the EU and EEA including the UK.
For US cookie consent, Shopify doesn't have any native consent options. I've never had to consent to cookies for any US based Shopify site.
Shopify will always follow local privacy laws, even if you have an app installed.
I hope this helps! Good luck!
Hi @LukaszAlba ,
Thanks for reaching out!
To disable this setting please head over to your admin and click Online Store, then Preferences. Scroll down to Customer privacy and select suitable option.
Considering that you need privacy banner app for this pop up, you can also disable it within the app itself. I would strongly recommend learning more about GDPR and data collection before making any changes to your setup.

For anyone looking in themes > preferences and not seeing this option, it has now been moved to Settings > Customer Privacy > Cookie banner
Hi, @LukaszAlba; what's your store URL? Sometimes the themes provide a built-in banner for that, but in most of the cases, this is not a GDPR-compliant solution. In other words if you change the privacy settings about GDPR from the store preferences page doesn't solve your issue with the double banner.
