All things Shopify and commerce
When I first decided to open my Shopify store, I gave it a name that was too niche specific. After I connected my supplier and started adding products, I decided to change the name. I see where you go to change the name in settings, and it says that it's changed. But when I share my link with anyone, or on social media, it shares under the original name. People are thinking that it's a scam because the names don't match. How can I completely remove the first name from my store's identity?
When you change your Shopify store's name, it might not instantly update everywhere, especially on social media or link previews. Here's what you can do:
1. Clear Your Browser's Cache: Sometimes, old info is stored in your browser, making it show the old name. Clearing the cache helps display the updated name.
2. Update Social Media Profiles: Manually change the store name and URL in your social media profiles or posts where you've shared your store's link.
3. Reshare Your Store's Link: After making changes in Shopify, reshare the updated link on social media. It may prompt these platforms to fetch the new information.
4. Check Link Previews: Social media platforms generate link previews. Use tools like Facebook Sharing Debugger or Twitter Card Validator to force these platforms to fetch the latest store info.
5. Get in Touch with Shopify Support: If issues persist, contact Shopify's support. Sometimes, technical glitches delay the update of the store's name across different channels.
6. Be Patient: Changes might take some time to reflect due to caching used by search engines and social media. Usually, updates happen quickly, but occasionally it might take a little longer.
By following these steps and allowing some time, you should be able to remove the old name from your store's identity. If problems persist, Shopify's support team can assist you further.
