Hi there,
I use Shopify for my charity's online shop.
We sell a selection of items from bought in goods, to donated, to those created by ourselves.
We are currently on the basic plan, but I need to be able to filter reports on different items/collections etc.
How can I get reports on specific items, collections or types of items?
Thank you in advance!
Meg @ Hope Rescue
Can you be more specific about the types of reports you need to filter?
Hi,
Yeah absolutely! Certain collections, or is there a way to search for a certain product and report on it? Or groups/types?
It depends on the report you want. On Sales reports this is possible, but not financial reports. If you can be specific about which report you want to run, I can try to point you in the right direction.
Hi Meg,
At the Basic level, Shopify doesn't offer much in the way of sales reporting. We have an app named Report Toaster that can report on all of this. Our free version is sufficient for most Shopify users at the Basic level. Please feel free to take a look and we can help with any reports you might need.
Thanks,
Sam
Hi Meg,
With Cube Reports you don't need to go through a "spreadsheet style" report. It is a Business Intelligence (OLAP) tool that adds up all the data just as you ask 🙂
With simple drag & drop you can build your own reports (cubes), by combining as many dimensions and metrics as you want, and visualize them through pivot tables and pivot charts.
For example:
"Gross Sales, AOV, ... broken by Billing city / UTM campaign / Discount code / Product name" is possible 🙂
And you can filter/exclude dimension values to build sub-reports, and many other features.
It was launched a few days ago, so you won't find any reviews yet.
It is a unique app and I think it will help you for sure. You have 14 days of free trial.
Please let me know if it works for you.
Best,
Sebastian
Hi Meg, not sure if this is still relevant. I imagine all this data eventually ends up on a spreadsheet anyway—so I suggest using Airboxr (my app) to create the reports you need. Specifically, I've listed below the ones that might be useful for you (click on the link to see a screenshot of the report):
In all of those cases, the data gets imported, standardized, analyzed, and delivered to your spreadsheets. If you need a specific report, we can also create a new one for you.
Do try it out yourself. There is a 14-day trial and a free forever plan too. Since you're a charity store, if you decide to upgrade, hit us up on the in-app chat for a discount.

I use an external service Skyvia to sync with me store so I can do whatever reports and metrics I need.
Shopify just released their New Analytics. Made a video on how to build custom reports using Shopify only (no apps needed) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45Wkb6nKF-4
