All things Shopify and commerce
We love the new return label generation feature from an order. However, Shopify says we will be charged only when a customer actually uses the label. I know the price displays when the return label is generated and emailed to the customer, but how can I re-look up that cost? For instance, we want to deduct that cost once the customer ships the label back (from their return amount) but how do we find out what that label cost was originally? How do we figure out how much we were charged for that label? Thanks!

Hi there, @Cscott1! Thanks for taking the time to follow up on this older thread with your question around viewing the cost of return labels! My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!
Return labels are 'pay-on-scan', which means that the cost of the label won't be determined until after it is scanned, and the product is sent back on it's way to you. In some cases, the reporting of the cost of the label can be delayed from the shipping carrier, and the price of the label may not be available for you to reference until a brief delay has passed, which can last beyond when the product is returned to you.
Once the shipping carrier has scanned the label, generated the charge, and fed that information to Shopify, you can see the cost of the label as part of the order timeline, and in your billing information. If you're not seeing this information when checking these locations, it could be that the data has not yet been passed to Shopify. If you would like confirmation of this, you can reach out to our Authenticated Support Team via our AI Assistant, and they can get you connected with an authenticated advisor who can dig into the price of the return label more deeply than we can here in the Community.
