Hello,

Is there a way to know the URL of the newsletter sign-up so that I can copy and paste it into an email?

Thank you

Silvia

Hi @silvia3 ,

Thanks for reaching out. That is an excellent question.

With Online Store 2.0 themes, you can create custom page templates from the Theme Editor. Essentially, you need to create a landing page that doesn’t necessarily have to be linked anywhere on your storefront.

The process is quite simple, but there are a few steps. I’ll take you through them.

  1. Create a new page in your admin. Head to Online Store>Pages. Add a new page and give it a name and additional text in the content section. In my example, the page name will be Newsletter. Ensure the Visibility is set to Visible. Click Save.

  2. Now, go to Online Store within admin and click Themes. Then, on the published theme, click Customize. As shown in the screenshot below, select Pages at the top center drop-down menu. Click on Create Template.

  3. A new dialogue will pop up - ensure the template's name corresponds to its purpose. Leave the second field as it was - Default page. Next, click the green ‘Create template’ button.

  4. You’ll see the current sections on that new template on the left-hand sidebar. You want to add a new section called Email Signup. Click Save.

  5. Finally, you want to back to the admin and head to the Pages section again. Click on the Newsletter page and assign a newly created template to it - ‘newsletter’. Click Save and View the page. You can copy the URL from the bar and share it in your email.

Let me know if this helps. Also, you may have something planned for BFCM this year, but now is the time to make some preparations. BFCM is one of the biggest sales weekends of the year and sees the start of the holiday season as well. Every year my go-to is this BFCM Checklist. It allows me to make sure that I am making the best use of my time and resources, and it really helps take the pressure off by starting early. It is well worth the read should you be interested!

I followed your instructions, but in the footer of my theme there is already the form for registering for the newsletter.
The new page therefore has 2 modules.
If I remove the newsletter from the footer, I eliminate it from the new page, but also from all the pages of the site.

Can i create a page template with a different footer?

Hey there, @EdMoDecor! Thanks for taking the time to follow up on this older thread! My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!

I did some testing in my own store with different templates and you're correct - toggling the setting to hide the email signup in the footer causes it to be hidden from the footer for any page using any page template. This is a little odd and I'm going to be flagging it for the awareness of our Team so they can dig into if this is expected behaviour (the coding linking all of these templates together could be forcing the visibility of the email sign-up to change in all templates due to the 'based' logic the templates are built from) or something that needs a look into.

With that information in mind, you could look into using some custom coding to edit the code of the template you've created to attempt to hide the email sign-up from the footer for the template you're using for your newsletter sign-up. Shopify Support Staff like myself are not trained on coding so we wouldn't be able to advise on what specific coding to change, but you could reach out to our Authenticated Support Team so they can connect with our Themes Team to see if they may be able to assist with that customization. Folks educated in code may also stop by and provide some suggestions on the coding you can use to hide the email sign-up input from the footer for this specific template, as well.

Hey again, @EdMoDecor! Imogen here once more!

I connected with some of our Internal Teams regarding your situation to bring awareness to this behaviour. The Team has asked that I direct you to reach out to our Authenticated Support Team via our Help Center so we can collect some store specific information from you and create an escalation to our Themes Team so they can investigate this behaviour in more detail. Thanks!
