How can I fix the currency issue on my ecommerce site?

I need help with a currency issue but I can no longer get proper support from Shopify. The chat box is hopeless and so are the suggested items to read. What can I do?

After using Shopify for almost 3 years, the price of products is showing up in the local currency, for example Euros for customers from Ireland. This is causing lots of confusion and I want to return to the prices only showing in pound sterling.

Hi there - how do we take a look at this? What is the link to your store - we can use a VPN to mimic an Ireland user (as an example).

This can happen for a variety of reasons: new app interference, theme updates, legacy theme bugs, etc.

Let us know, thanks.

I need help as well.  I am in USA so I OBVIOUSLY do my accounting in USDollars.  I still need to do Quickbooks sales receipts  in USD, but Shopify does not seem to provide that information until day(s) later when you see the processing amounts.  Am I missing something?  Am I stupid or is Shopify?

Hi @MUShop ,

Before exploring potential theme bugs or updates as suggested by @WhiteWater_Web , you'll want to verify the state of your Shopify Markets settings. This is a cross-border management tool that creates different online experiences based on customer segmented locations when using Shopify Payments. This would affect the currency display if you have multiple markets in place. I encourage you to verify your Settings > Markets in your Shopify admin and let me know what you have there.

If you have markets that would only apply the Pound sterling, then we can explore whether or not you have an app that might be using the visitors geolocation to convert the prices.

If the above are not applicable to your situation, then it would be a theme issue.

Please keep me posted and we can troubleshoot further together.

*I would like to note as well that in order to contact our support advisors, you'll need to engage with the virtual chat bot on our Help Center first. Simply ask to speak with an advisor until it brings you to the support page. Select "Chat" to speak with an advisor directly.*

Cheers!

Hello - I saw a message about this earlier this month (they sent an email where you can opt out) but did not think it would effect my 3rd party analysis apps that I built. Well - all my international sales that use the field Price from the data model are using the international currency. This is now messing up my numbers in my custom app and causing me to have to perform additional calculations to get the US currency numbers. I get that the information is displayed in the local currency for the buyer in the country they are in - but it should be stored in US currency like it was before - I really hate Shopify sometimes.

Yes, this was not a good upgrade as far as store owner accounting. Not
sure what they were thinking...and YES, I agree it's a great thing for
buyers where the local currency is USD, but it would be nice (basically
essential) to see the dollar amount immediately so that we can accurately
create the invoices/sales receipts in our accounting software.
