How can I generate a report for products with no sales in Shopify?

Hello,

I've noticed that when generating reports, Shopify doesn't return items that have 0 sales. The only way to find these items is to export your inventory and sales and cross reference. With a store of 1000+ products, and 2000+ variants, this is a nightmare. The product export and sales export have different names too, so running a VLOOKUP isn't effective.

Knowing what products have 0 sales is key to running a business. Does anyone know of a way to generate products with 0 sales in Shopify, or does the usual "third party app" rule apply here, too?

Thanks.

Hi Greg,

I’m John from Data Export. I checked the Shopify sales by product report and it shows only products that had a sale.

If you prefer using an app, then Data Export will work. You can create a simple sales by variant report in Data Export. This report will list all variants - even if it had a sale or not.

Please contact me at john@dayspringlabs.com if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Data Export is rated by Shopify Sellers as the best and cost-effective reporting application on Shopify.

Hi Greg - hopefully as your post was from 2018, you have found an answer to this problem. I'll post this anyway, as it may be useful to others looking for the same thing.

You can try running an 'Inventory Report', which will give you a breakdown of everything that is listed in your product inventory; and tell you what has sold and not sold. The downside is that it will only show data for the last 28 days, but it can be useful if you run it as a monthly report ongoing.

Generating sales reports in Stocky will show products with zero sales. We also have tagged all archived items with "archive", so we can filter those out of the reports, as well.
