Re: Simple yearly shipping cost report?

Solved

How can I get a yearly shipping cost report for 2021?

Like the title says, I need to know what I spent on shipping in 2021.  That should be a basic, straightforward report that takes a few seconds to compile and deliver to me as a downloadable CSV file.

So where is it?

This is an accepted solution.

It was pretty frustrating, since it seems like it should be simpler to get this info, but I just figured out how to do this:

  1. In admin go to Analytics --> Reports
  2. Use the find/filter to get to the 'Shipping labels over time.' report
  3. Choose your time duration at the top by clicking the default 'last 90 days'; Remove the 'compare to' data by choosing 'no comparison'
  4. Click the filter manage icon (look like a hamburger menu icon but the lines get smaller from top to bottom)
  5. Choose 'Customer paid is 0'. Apply the filter.

This will show you the amount you paid, and not your customers, in the timeframe specified.

If you are using Shopify shipping then this is included on the report that shows all of your Shopify charges.

In you Shopify Admin see the "Finance" menu on the left - under that menu choose "Billing". All the way to the bottom of that screen, choose "Statement of Charges".

As CloudlabSam points out, that's a list of what the customers paid for shipping.  I need to know what I paid in shipping.  I offer "free" shipping to my customers, which like nearly everything that's labeled as "free" is not in fact free, I pay for it and I need to know exactly how much I paid in 2021, which should be a very simple and easy-to-find report that generates in a few seconds.  But like everything with shopify the answer to this simple question is the same as always:  Pay more or pay for a monthly "app" if you want that functionality.

Hi @MDD ,

If your store is on the Advanced Shopify or Shopify Plus plan, then you can modify default reports and create custom reports using Shopify's filtering and editing features.

You may create a custom report by going to Analytics > Reports > Create Custom Report > Select the Sales Overtime Report option > Add the "Shipping" column.

Once done, you will have the report ready to export in CSV format.

If you require any customized reports that you aren't able to create on Shopify, please contact us at support@reportpundit.com

Thanks,

You are giving him instructions on what his customers paid for shipping. MDD is looking for what he/she paid for shipping. Big difference.

You’re welcome! glad it worked for you also.  I documented the process, not only to share with others, but also so when I need to do this again in the future and I forget this convoluted process, I’ll have something to refer to!
