All things Shopify and commerce
I have a bank charge that I do not recognise. I looks like I may have made a purchase from a merchant that uses Shopify to collect payments. I have a 9 digit shopify code listed on my bank statement and am hoping I can get help figuring out what I may have purchased. The charge is for $348., so I don't want to just let this go. I want to be sure that it is for something I purchased, and not a fraudulent charge.
Thanks for your help
Lynn
Hi @Lynn17
Shopify support will most likely help you out with this type of request, they have excellent chat support.
This does not help me figure out why I was charged through my bank by Shopify. I need help determining what the charge was for. Specific contacts for help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
lYNN
Hey Lynn! Our support team can help you confirm if this is a Shopify billing/invoice charge but not if it is connected to an order made through a Shopify merchant. If the bank identifier for the charge looks similar to "SHOPIFY*########" then this is most likely a platform billing charge for a Shopify store. $348 USD is the cost of an annual pricing plan on Shopify.
If you or someone in your household created a free Shopify trial account then this may be where the charge was then initiated from. If not, then there is a good chance that your banking details have been compromised. I recommend reporting this charge to your bank and cancelling your card. Cancelling your card will also flag any merchant accounts that may be using your card details as well.
