Is there a way to direct my Shopify customers to Amazon to order from Amazon

say a link or a Buy Button ?

We are going to fulfillment by Amazon and no longer have third party or self shipping

May return one day to shipping our own order so I want to keep the store open

any comments or suggestions would be appreciated

Said another way is there a way to take orders in my Shopify store and have Amazon do the fulfillment we already use Amazon FBA

You can easily do both of these.

For a button to send to Amazon just create a button instead of the add to cart, that sends to Amazon.

Example:

{% comment %}
This is the code for the original add to cart button, comment it out so it's saved but does not show on the screen. The code is probably in a Section, maybe product-form.liquid, or product.liquid.
{% endcomment %}

<!-- New button (you would style this using CSS) -->
<a href="your_amazon_url" class="amazon-button">Buy on Amazon</a>

If you're trying to build a brand (recommended), and want to maximize repeat business and marketing efforts to your website, then you can take orders on Shopify and fulfill them with Amazon, this is quite common.

To do that you can use Order Automator. You connect this app to your store and Amazon, then assign products in Shopify that should be fulfilled by Amazon. The inventory syncs with Amazon, and when orders with those products come in, the app creates an FBA order in Amazon, then updates Shopify with tracking when it ships. For more info see: https://orderautomator.com/faq/?open=amazon-fba.

Hey, @Bigbambusa.

Thank you for reaching out and posting this question!

If you're looking to redirect customers from your Shopify store to Amazon, then you can consider customizing the product page of your theme and coding  a button as suggested by @JoesIdeas. However, since each of your products will need to be pointed to a different link on Amazon, then this would require a significant amount of coding and/or creating additional templates for the product page and adding the links for each product. If you're not comfortable working with coding languages (eg. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Liquid), then you may need to consider hiring a developer to assist you with this task. If you need help finding a developer, then we'd recommend taking a look at our directory of certified developers on Shopify Experts.

Alternatively, an easier way to add the Amazon links to your products is to simply add them to your product's descriptions. This way, you wouldn't need to create a bunch of product templates and assign them to each product. Nevertheless, if you're just trying to get Amazon to fulfill orders for your Shopify store, then you don't need to go through any of the theme customizations or adding links - simply follow our guide on activating fulfillment by Amazon

I can see that you're a new member of our Shopify Community! Once you've had a chance to check out our guide, I'd love to hear more about your experience. What kinds of products are you selling? Do you have a marketing plan prepared for your store?

@Elias  sharing this in case you didn't know, the Amazon fulfillment by Shopify plugin was deprecated earlier this year, it was set to end in September but got extended to March now (March 30th is what they're saying on that page).

We used to use that plugin in combination with our app, but now are an Amazon Selling Partner and have a direct to the Amazon API. Many of our users have upgraded to the new workflow but some haven't yet, some that haven't upgraded have recently been reporting problems on occasion (like inventory sync not working, some orders not processing, tracking not getting updated), I'm guessing because it's deprecated and no longer fully supported, not sure just sharing the info we've experienced.

Either way, @Bigbambusa I would recommend selling on Shopify and fulfilling by Amazon, rather than directing to Amazon. I built an ecommerce brand in the past (ran it for 7 years then sold my shares) and we did exactly that, and keeping people on our website helped immensely as the years went on and our repeat business / product catalogue expanded.

Hey, @JoesIdeas.

Thank you for following up and providing the additional context!

You are absolutely correct in that our Fulfillment by Amazon integration will no longer be supported after March. 30th, 2023. However, merchants can continue to use Amazon FBA using Amazon Supply Chain's integration for Shopify - Multi-Channel Fulfillment. Did you get a chance to try this integration?

Thanks again for sharing your insight with the community!

@Elias sure no problem, I've sold on Amazon + built Amazon integrations since 2015, always happy to help people find solutions. That link looks like some similar solutions, no I haven't tried them because we have our own solution with Order Automator that works perfectly but if they connect directly to the Amazon API like we do then I would say they're viable options as well, the key is using a direct to Amazon solution since the Shopify plugin is deprecated and will need to be switched out eventually, plus has some drawbacks that apps like ours solve (like able to map shipping methods and skus, add multiple tracking numbers, etc).

Hey, @LeoJamar.

Thank you for joining the thread and posting this question.

I'm afraid there isn't enough information for me to determine where the issue is coming from and we're unable to access any accounts via the Shopify Community. However, I'd be happy to provide some general support and/or point you in the right direction. Can you share more details about your Amazon integration? Are you using the Amazon MCF: US Fulfillment app?

If you need to get help with a third-party app, then the app developer is always available to assist you. Simply reach out to developer using the contact information found at the bottom of their app's page. On the other hand, if you believe the issue is occurring on Shopify's end, then we'd be happy to assist you through live chats where we can access your account. Please visit the Shopify Help Center and login to your account to create a support request.

I noticed that you're a new member of our Shopify Community! Once you've resolved the issue with Amazon MCF, I'd love to hear more about your business and share some resources to help you get started!

Hi, that always sounds nice, taking the orders yourself and filling them with Amazon.

But what I usually don't get an adequate answer to is how returns are handled?

If you have +500 orders a week and only a 2% return rate, then you're easily dealing with 10 returns a week. To put it mildly, that's a whole day's work a week or 4 days a month just dealing with returns. (Customers who return are the most difficult customers with lots of questions).

Here we could benefit from your years of experience and find out how you automate returns?

Best Regards
Ferencz

Hi @Bigbambusa,

If you are looking to import/link your Amazon listings on the Shopify store, you may have a look at the Connectr App. It has other features which include displaying the buy on Amazon button in addition to add to cart button, Syncing prices, and inventory from Amazon to Shopify. Also, you can configure the app to fulfill Shopify orders via FBA. For more, click here.
