How can I report a scam from a Facebook ad?

hello. I got scammed yesterday.

I found the site on Facebook ad. and I clicked on it to enter the website. then I bought some items and paid money.

however they only replied information about purchased items except tracking number. so I searched the website again, but it was gone. I'd like to report that shop to manager of shopify that name is isabellahar.myshopify.com

hello I'd like to know how can I clime that scammed to shopify?

Do you have countermeasures for consumers who have been affected by scams? And could you let me know your official clime website?

ReportFraud.ftc.gov is the federal government’s website where you can report fraud, scams, and bad business practices.

Or start by reporting the scam to your state consumer protection office. If you lost money or other possessions in a scam, report it to your local police too.

Thanks for posting this on the Shopify Community - you are very welcome here. It is never a nice situation when an online order doesn't go as expected. Thank you very much for the detailed screenshots.

 

I would like to explain a little bit about what Shopify is, and how we fit into this situation. Shopify is the platform that many businesses use to sell both online and in person. We provide the software that people use to sell products & services, however we have zero involvement in the day to day running of the stores. This includes things like orders, returns, refunds etc. Those are all entirely the responsibility of the businesses. We also cannot confirm if a merchant is using Shopify or not, as it would be a breach of privacy & confidentiality. 

 

With that said, I would like to help you out as best I can in this situation! Based on your screenshots it looks like your order was placed on the 22nd August, which is only 3 days ago. It is highly possible that you will receive your order, and that there might be a genuine reason for the store not being accessible. However, if you have concerns about the order then the best first step is usually to reach out to the store directly and inquire about the status of your order. We have some information on how to contact a merchant here.

 

If 30 days have passed and you still have not received the order or heard back from the merchant, then you can feel free to submit a complaint using this form here. That would also be a good time to reach out to your bank to discuss the refund options available to you.

 

I hope this helps clarify the situation - If you believe the store is indeed fraudulent even after reading my above information, then you can reach out to our support team using this link, where we can collect some details from you and pass it on to one of our internal teams for investigation.

I was also scammed recently and the shop is now closed so I can no longer go through the link to report them. Please help.

I am sorry to hear about this situation - it certainly doesn't sound ideal. Can you share a little bit more context about what happened? Did you place an order on the same store @Aotearoa mentioned, and also experienced issues? 

 

Have you tried submitting a report to us using our online form here? If so, are you seeing an error when trying to submit it? You should just need your name, email and order confirmation URL to submit it.

 

The next step would be to reach out to your bank/payment provider to discuss the options available to you. They may be able to assist you in investigating the issue and potentially initiating a refund - many banks have policies in place to protect their customers and assist with refunds.

 

Of course, continuing to try your best to contact the store is always a good idea - please see this resource here which outlines the various contact methods you can try.

I was scammed recently but cannot report the store because the site is no longer available so it says my order confirmation URL is invalid. What other methods do you offer for reporting stuff if the stores site is no longer available or the email confirmation URL now says invalid. Where can i email my order confirmation to report the shop for a refund.  My order says it delivered to some where in Maine, my ship to location is in Georgia. I want a refund.

Thanks for reaching out. I am sorry to hear about your recent shopping experiences. It's never a nice situation when an online order doesn't go as planned.

 

If you are unable to use this online form here to report the store to us using the order confirmation URL, then it's still advisable to contact your bank directly to let them know about the situation. Most banks will have some form of refund policy in place, although they may require a certain amount of time to have passed before they can assist with a refund request.

 

You mentioned about emailing to report the shop for a refund. To clarify,  we are the platform that a wide variety of businesses use to sell both online and in person. However, we do not manage any stores ourselves, and have no involvement in the order fulfilment process. The store themselves are directly responsible for helping their customers with things such as refunds. We do not have access to any transaction funds, so we are unable to assist with this.

Rick, I also have been scammed and you are doing nothing to protect us. I will report you to the authorities, Shopify, and will extend this to all social media.

Firstly I am from Turkey thats why i have a bad English.

Sunday i just saw a instagram ads who named, "Gotham GearsTR" "https://gothamgearstr.com/ ". I REALLY LIKE THEIR COMPRESSION TSHIRTS then i bought one of them. After that my girlfriend liked too. And she bought too. We waited until this day. They didnt send me any track code for my order. I just write and they said it will come in 7-14 days.

Vendor agreement says If you do not request a refund within 7 days, it will be void. I was quite suspicious. and i searched "gotham gears" "https://gothamgears.store/ " i found this website. and original website owner says its scaming. I will complain to the Turkish government but i dont have any contacts. Are you guys have chance to give me any contact which scammer website owner if you give me, 

I want to make a criminal complaint to the prosecutor's office and expand the business. "https://www.instagram.com/gothamgearstr/"  instagram adress they are using fake followers.

We would always suggest first contacting the store directly, so that they can address your concerns and provide support for your order. It sounds like you have already tried this, but the store hasn't been working with you to resolve the situation.

 

If you haven't received your order after 30 days of placing it, it would be a good idea to reach out to your bank/payment provider directly. Many banks provide protection services to their consumers when making purchases. They generally offer certain safeguards and recourse in case of fraudulent transactions, non-delivery of goods, or other issues with a purchase.

 

After 30 days, you can also submit a buyer complaint form here via this link so that our team can review the relevant information and take necessary action if the store is found to be operating on Shopify and against our terms of service.

I think it's horrible that we protect the scammers. I've just been scammed for £43.00.

 

WE CAN'T REPORT IT BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO POST THE URL AND YOUR FORM DOES NOT ACCEPT THE URL WE WERE PROVIDED BECAUSE IT WAS FAKE/A SCAM. What are you not understanding?

 

You have no customer phone number, no email address, and yet another pointless AI bot. Spotify is an absolute joke.
